SLiCE Tool Review
SLiCE Tool Review
The lovely folks over at Slice kindly sent me some of their tools to trial and use for my coloured pencil work! I’ve previously purchased one of their craft knife cutters way back when they first came on the market as there was a lot of hype over these ceramic blades when it came to removing layers of coloured pencil.
I’ve had my trusty craft knife for well over a year now and I have never looked back to steel blades! In my opinion, these ceramic blades lift coloured pencil off even better than their steel counterparts and, whats more, is that they are finger friendly, so if you’re a little accident prone (like myself) and often slip wen gently etching away layers of coloured pencil, then these are going to be your best buds.

This review covers my very first craft knife by Slice but they have since sent me a reimagined version with a super handy shield for the blade, instead of a cap and also a manual pen cutter! The safety shield craft knife I have fitted with their super pointy blade and, let me tell you, it lifts that coloured pencil even easier!
It’s got a handy little orange blade shield which you rotate to cover the blade which is much easier to use than recapping…I’m forever losing caps to things so this blade shield is a life saver.
The manual pen cutter is fitted with the rounded blade and this one allows you to have two blade positions – fully extended and half extended. Half extended allows you to make teeny tiny little details and a little more control over the blade and works just as well as fully extended.
Both of these tools work in exactly the same way as detailed in the video with regards to lifting coloured pencil and creating small, white highlights and details so make sure you check it out!
